Explore this Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 9 h 20 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are June through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

We did this last weekend. We spent Night 1 at Big Meadows Campground. A few folks told us that Lost Lake was nicer than Seville. We decided to say there Night 3 also and on Day 2, we took a flash bag and hiked past Ranger Lake and up Sillman Pass.

The hike up to the pass is tough - and would be very hard with packs. Lost Lake is beautiful. There were tons of mosquitos everywhere - definitely bring a head net. The nights were surprisingly warm.
